PURPOSE

  • Overall: To promote the productive and leadership potential of 100 young coffee growers through the establishment of a coffee project in the municipalities of El Playón, Matanza, Rionegro, Floridablanca, Tona, Bucaramanga, Piedecuesta and San Andrés.
  • Specific:
    - Support the young students to establish coffee plantations with 3 different ages in production cycles.
    - To train them in seedbeds, nurseries, planting, renovation, maintenance, agronomic crop management, harvest, post-harvest, quality, marketing, and coffee certification.
    - To encourage them to know quality of the coffee produced on their farms and participate in national, departmental and municipal coffee quality competitions, and in strategies such as the “mobile cup (quality lab)”.
    - To strengthen skills of the young coffee growers with training in leadership, entrepreneurship and associativity, to become models of regional progress and leadership.
    - To get the young students to implement strategies that promote food security on coffee farms and their communities.

This project is possible thanks to the support of FNC, the local coffee community (youngsters and family members), schools, Bucaramanga Chamber of Commerce and the Collibri and EFICO Foundation and runs from May 2023 to May 2026.
