Who we are

The EFICO Foundation is a private, non-profit foundation established in 2003 by Patrick F. Installé, a late member of EFICO’s founding family. It is unique in Europe for its structural, long-term support of coffee farming families and their communities.

To date, the EFICO Foundation has convened around 40 roasters, several governmental organisations, development agencies, and more than 60 partner organisations around a shared commitment to impact.

A core principle of the EFICO Foundation is that collected funds are fully allocated to the projects. EFICO assumes all operational costs of the Foundation, ensuring that 100% of your contribution goes directly to the projects.

How we work

The EFICO Foundation raises revenue from private and public sources and allocates it to projects carefully approved and evaluated by a Jury of Experts. EFICO covers all operational and fund-related expenses, ensuring that 100% of contributions from roasters and institutional partners go directly to the projects.

In 2005, EFICO established the EFICO Fund within the King Baudouin Foundation (KBF) to oversee the Foundation’s finances independently and transparently. KBF is a public interest foundation supporting projects and citizens worldwide who are committed to building a better society.
In 2025, the EFICO Fund transitioned into a leaner structure -the Fund Friends of EFICO Foundation, continuing to operate under the umbrella of KBF.
