PURPOSE

  • Develop skills and abilities, form habits and encourage change of attitudes of children
  • Facilitate the adaptation of pre-school students to the educational environment by providing them educational services directed by the particular needs, interests and problems of each of the children
  • Raise parents’ awareness about the importance of supporting their children’s education versus exposing them to participation in agricultural activities
  • Implement development and productivity through the Active Rural School methodology
  • Educate and train primary level teachers in the correct implementation of this methodology in the classroom, based on the skills and educational standards defined for Guatemala
  • Provide an ongoing monitoring and technical support to each of the primary schools that implement this methodology
  • Strengthen the installed capacity of rural primary schools through the provision of the educational material necessary to implement the methodology in the classes

This project was possible thanks to the support of FUNCAFÉ, Maison Blanche Dael and EFICO Central America/the EFICO Foundation and ran from November 2014 to December 2016 for kindergartners and from July 2014 to November 2016 for primary school students.
