PURPOSE

  • Improve the health and living conditions of the families in the community of Caserío El Bendito and Caserío Los Vásquez, Chiquimula
  • Construction of 9 smokeless stoves, 64 cement floors, 55 pilas (outdoor washing stations) and 64 water filters
  • The smokeless stoves will help reduce respiratory and pulmonary diseases and eye problems as well as deforestation
  • The water filters will help reduce gastro-intestinal diseases and give the families access to clean drinking water
  • Provide educational and technical training
  • Local leaders and partner families are involved throughout the process. The leaders help identify the local families with the greatest need.
    The partner families actively participate in training and construction to ensure that they are committed to utilizing the products and improving their health. By being involved in building, the positive effect on the whole community is long-term.
