Our Commitments

At EFICO, our approach to responsible business is guided by the United Nations Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals. We have been a signatory to the UN Global Compact since 2003 and committed to the SDGs since 2016.

We aim for a coffee future in which everyone across the coffee value chain can benefit, while protecting opportunities for future generations.

At EFICO, we integrate the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact into our strategies and actions
Additionally, we support the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and follow the Commodity Sector Guidance issued by the Swiss Government in November 2018.

Sustainable Development Goals

Sustainable sourcing, positively impacting farmers’ livelihoods and prosperity, and reducing our environmental impact are key pillars of our strategy. We focus on the following 6 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:

 The 17 Sustainable Development Goals, agreed by all UN member states in September 2015, are a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.  These goals give an overview on how to tackle the world’s most pressing problems, including poverty, inequality and environmental destruction.

Communication on Progress

Each year, we publish our EFICO Group Communication on Progress (COP) Report, outlining our progress and actions under the United Nations Global Compact and Sustainable Development Goals framework.
