Cupping Coffee for Science
Earlier this week, we have been very pleased to participate in the World Coffee Research International Multi-Location Variety Trial cupping experiment !
In 2016, World Coffee Research undertook the International Multi-location Variety Trial, which consists in gathering the best-performing coffee varieties from all around the world and seeing how they perform in different environments.
In order to do so, 31 top varieties have been planted at 24 sites in 17 countries with the idea to understand the interactions between genetics and environment and the impact on the cup profile.
All this work aims at identifying varieties and locations that have the highest cup quality scores and the highest stability to face climate change.
We participated to this research through a blind cupping of 18 different coffees. No indication on origin or varieties.
Our cupping reports will be collected by World Coffee Research together with the input from the rest of the participating partners, to feed a robust analysis of data.
We had a very good time cupping and we are excited to add our little coffee drop to the coffee research. Looking forward now to reading the results !
