One Step Closer to Organic Coffee Production
Fazenda Dutra Became Organic Certified
We have been working the Dutra brothers, Walter and Ednilson, since 2010. Ever since, we have been buying their coffee each crop. Currently, the Dutra family grows over 700 acres of coffee today. Out of the 18 000 bags they produce each year, 6 000 are specialty coffee quality.
Working together we are happy to share a new succes by the Dutra family who became organic certified for Europe.
“When we decided to change our crops to organic, the process was not very difficult for the reason that we always had the culture of not using pesticides in the crops. Five years ago we started banning all pesticides and other agricultural products that are harmful to health. The conversion to organic in the fields came naturally and for us it was a cultural change in which we want to be totally sustainable, providing the best quality coffees and healthier.
Organic certification is very strict in all aspects. it took some times but after 5 years we are now certified NOP (USA), EOS (Europe), JAS (Japan), COR (Canada). We are very excited to be able to supply our organic coffees in Europe.” Pedro Henrique Dutra
