Finca La Azucena

Colombia: Huila

Around seven years ago, Tito Burbano purchased the La Azucena farm from his neighbor. Initially, the land was barren, but with dedication, he and his wife cultivated it, starting with corn and beans. Inspired by local traditions, they enhanced the soil and planted coffee trees, beginning with traditional varieties like Caturra and Castillo.

Their recent experiment involved planting pink bourbon, which proved to be a rewarding decision. Despite the extra care required, they found satisfaction in its exceptional quality, which not only improved their income but also promoted natural diversity and soil health.

Since 2019, Tito Burbano has participated in COE competitions, and in 2022, his coffee was recognized as ‘Colombia Presidential Coffee’.

The Burbano’s invested in upgrading farm infrastructure to enhance quality and believe in continual education and sharing knowledge with neighbors for ongoing success in producing high-quality coffee.

Dedication and attention to detail in production are crucial for crafting high-quality coffee. Not only does it lead to better income for farmers like Tito Burbano and his wife, but it also paves the way for a brighter future for their region.
