IMPROVING OVERALL LIVING CONDITIONS AND HEALTH IN GUATEMALA

This project can be seen as follow-up of the project "Healthy Home Kits for coffee farming families". 
The partnership now continues with some of the families and allows to incorporate new families so that the community development can be integral.

PURPOSE

  • Construction of 42 rainwater harvesting systems;
  • Construction of 31 concrete floors of 33m2;
  • Implementation of 43 smokeless stoves;
  • Reinforcement capacities and improved community organization through capacity building training.

The project aims for a reduction in the monthly purchase of drinking water, parasitic infections, cases of diarrhea and anemia, a decrease in hospital attendance due to respiratory diseases and for a reduction in the consumption of firewood. Also, an improvement in self-esteem, financial education, risk management and nutritious cooking at home is aimed for.

This project is possible thanks to the support of Habitat for Humanity Guatemala (HFHG), Local Community Development Council (COCODE), Maison Josy Juckem, EFICO Central America/the EFICO Foundation and runs from April 2023 to December 2025.
