PROMOTION OF AND EDUCATION FOR HEALTHY SCHOOL CHILDREN

PURPOSE

Overall : Contribute to social empowerment & political and institutional sustainability

Specific:

  • Provide each student with a School Kit
    A kit includes a backpack, notebooks, pens and pencils, ruler, compass, pencil sharpener and erasers, colored paints, drawing book
    Classes take place virtually ifo COVID-19; connection through the Google Classroom App.
    For the students without internet connection, teachers visit at home at least once a week to assign homework for the week.
  • Provide each student with a Family Food Kit
    A kit includes rice, oatmeal, coffee, sugar, corn flour, wheat flour, butter, spaghetti, tomato paste, salt, chicken soup, ice cubes, dish soap, laundry soap, anti-bacterial gel and masks
  • As soon as the situation allows ifo COVID-19 evolution:
    Add new components to the school menu to be adequate and healthy, contemplating the specifications and nutritional safety of food;
    - Elaboration of a recipe booklet
    - Implementation of kitchen workshops for parents
    - 2 egg endowments per week for each student
    - Implementation of a school garden
    - Creating a system of food availability by season
    - Purchase and delivery of a kit of utensils for the school lunch
  • Provide education on hygienic habits, application of de-parasitizing and vitamin supplements

This project is possible thanks to the support of Fundación Amigos del Café, Hesselink Koffie and EFICO Central America/the EFICO Foundation and runs from February 2021 to February 2022.
