Eric Fischer

Eric Fischer

In 1999, coffee became Eric’s specialty. This choice came naturally to him, being born as a true coffee lover.
Trading this exotic – and above all – beautiful product is a challenging and diverse trade: new preparation methods in origin, new roasting and brewing techniques mean that nice surprises are never far away.

At EFICO, exchanging knowledge and innovation are at the heart of our business and therefore, we keep a keen eye on market and product evolutions to offer to our customers the best products possible. This makes Eric proud being part of the team.

Michel Germanès

Michel Germanès

Michel started his coffee career about 40 years ago and joined EFICO’s Commercial Team in 1984, under the leadership of the Installé family.

Prior to his present role as CEO, and having a commercial role, Michel was a member of the European Coffee Federation’s Contracts Committee for about 15 years and is the head of the Belgian Coffee Importer’s Association.

Working with a product that is popular among the younger generation,
maintaining a personal approach and the human aspect remain key drivers to Michel.

Jean Lauwers

Jean Lauwers

Jean’s love for nature brought him to study agronomy. He worked in South America with coffee producers and gained experience in the agricultural world. As a gourmet, he has a passion for taste, new flavors, the finest ingredients and getting the best out of a variety of products.

At EFICO, he learned everything about coffee and its trade. After 20 years in the trading team, it is a pleasure for him to share his coffee experiences, always aiming to offer well selected coffees that put a smile on the face of the producer, the roaster and the consumer.

Diederik Peeters

Diederik Peeters

Diederik joined the EFICO sales team in 2003, after practicing other commercial functions.
He loves many aspects of his job: the personal connections with his clients – foremost artisan coffee roasters, finding the right coffees and the diversity it brings along every day to name but a few.

Diederik has a fascination for the new challenges the vibrant coffee scene brings with nowadays: keeping up with the expectations and behavior patterns of the youngest generations and hearing their vision for a sustainable future makes him feel young at heart.

He believes that examples like EFICO’s high-end, sustainable green coffee warehouse SEABRIDGE and the EFICO Foundation are a perfect fit for these (future) consumers.

dorien van dun

Dorien Van Dun

Dorien’s connection with coffee actually began during her Master Applied Economics in 2008, when writing a thesis about the impact of the coffee crisis. A first feeling of commitment awoke as she discovered the human aspect is key.

As a member of the EFICO Foundation Team, it is essential to her to actively contribute to a positive impact and legacy, interacting with all coffee value chain actors involved.

Dorien is a people-oriented spirit and gets energized by building sustainable partnerships, coffee community linked and beyond.

Her life motto is: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together” (African proverb)

Raf Vermeire

Raf Vermeire

Coffee played an important role in Raf’s life long before he started working in this business. With an appreciation for a good cup of mocha and having spent several years in the oil sector, he joined EFICO in 2000.

Although there are several similarities between both commodities, it soon became clear to Raf that coffee really brings people together in various settings and different situations. By traveling to origin and experiencing various contacts with suppliers, clients and many other key players in our business, he realized this makes it fascinating.

Over the years, Raf’s passion for coffee changed into an addiction but luckily a very positive one which he doesn’t regret.

After obtaining her Master in Modern Literature and gaining experience in the aviation sector, Tatiana seized the opportunity for change in 2008.
By joining the EFICO sales team, a whole new (coffee) world opened up to her, ready to be explored. Today, after more than 10 years of coffee experience, Tatiana still gets inspired by the impressive human adventure behind this product, which is at the same time so simple and so valuable.

She enjoys complex fragranced coffees, Chemex prep.

Jérémie Trono

Jérémie Trono

After having lived on 4 continents and globetrotting North to South and East to West, Jérémie began his coffee career in 2012. Fueled with passion for the business, love of great tasting coffee and the human stories behind each cup, he has acquired a deep sense of green coffee quality knowledge.

Jérémie gets energized by building lasting relations with both suppliers at origin – specializing in Asia and Central America – and small and big industry players all over Europe, North America, South Korea and the Middle East.

He can’t start his day without a fine cup of Joe!

Nicholas Marcet

Nicholas Marcet

Nicholas developed a passion for coffee after visiting a plantation, while doing an internship at the Swiss Embassy in Costa Rica. A career change followed, and he joined EFICO in 2012 as project manager in Ethiopia.

Nicholas came back from this experience in origin with a deep respect for coffee producers, from Ethiopia and beyond, who enable all of us to enjoy this noble product every day.
Now, as a coffee merchant, it’s a pleasure for him to share the story behind every coffee with roasters as passionate as he is.

During his free time, Nicholas enjoys reading with a lungo coffee.

Thorsten Hammersen

Thorsten Hammersen

Starting as a grain trader in 1984, Thorsten recognized after just one year that grain and feeding stuff would never be his passion.

He changed to the coffee department where he found his purpose. Being able to smell, taste and feel this amazing product, using all available senses tapped right into his happiness.

After a stay in East Africa and gaining experience at some European trade houses, Thorsten found a new home at EFICO in 2004 to build up long-term customer and supplier relationships both in Germany and Austria.
