PARTICIPATORY FOREST MANAGEMENT IN ETHIOPIA
PURPOSE
- Implement Participatory Forest Management (PFM in forests, and thereby forest coffee in four forests in Oromia and SNNPR), a functional, sustainable natural resource management system.
- Create sustainable livelihoods through wild coffee growing for local communities
- Improve coffee quantity and quality
- Provide incentives to protect forest resources
- Generate more income by adding value to the coffee and through improved market links
- Consider gender roles and give specific training accordingly
- Strengthen women’s role through positive discrimination to ensure the inclusion of women in different training and activities
- Use PFM plans to accommodate the special needs for illiterate people
