Coffee value chain
Coffee is much more than a commodity.
At EFICO, we choose smart partnerships where everyone is an expert in their field, and we connect the dots to create a maximum of added value for all involved. This means we buy coffee from local partners – exporters and cooperatives – to boost local economies and development.
With our local offices in Ethiopia, Brazil, and Guatemala we have an all year long presence in coffee origins. At EFICO, we consider our sourcing offices indispensable to stay connected with and committed to our coffee farmer partners. Think global, act local.
We establish sustainable value chains, positively impacting farmers’ livelihoods and prosperity and reducing our environmental impact.
Food integrity, quality, safety and authenticity of the coffees we source and offer is fundamental. And we continue to go further in fully traceable and sustainable value chains, from farm to fork. Acting as connector in the value chain since 1926, it’s inherent to our job to provide our clients with solutions to:
Risk Management
To get your beloved coffee beans to their destination for coffee lovers to enjoy, multiple risks pop up along the way and need to be handled with great care. This can go from logistic risks up to security, financial, quality, macro-economic, and other supply chain risks. Our team of experts has in-depth knowledge to manage these risks adequately and accurately.
Supply Chain Management
We manage our supply chain in the most effective and efficient way, maximizing customer value.
With our origin offices and by working closely together with our coffee farmer partners we have a global reach and can source coffee from all over the world. We source locally and can provide you with green coffee and tailor-made supply chain solutions globally. In our Belgian-based warehouse SEABRIDGE, your coffee will be stored under the best conditions, and handled in the best possible way.

Sustainable solutions
We embed sustainability within our value chain and create extra tools for clients and suppliers to implement responsible business practices. The United Nations Global Compact and Sustainable Development Goals provide the basis for EFICO’s corporate responsibility.
We closely assess and monitor supplier and customer performance, keeping an open dialogue to continuously improve product performance and proactively work on alignment of service requirements. Together with our partners, we act in accordance with our Supplier Code Principles.
At EFICO, we continuously challenge our teams and stakeholders to be(come) the best version of themselves. Change is the only constant in life. By learning and embracing change, innovation is sparked to stay:
Future proof
We envision a coffee future where origin and flavour diversity, economic viability and stability are key. A sustainable coffee future is a future where the industry as a whole invests in itself for the long run, valuing all people along the journey.
This is why we highly value our Partnerships with World Coffee Research, Global Coffee Platform and Sustainable Coffee Challenge. Within these frameworks, there is also room for pre-competitive collaboration. We are also active members of several initiatives supporting sustainable development, including Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance/UTZ, Organic, 4C.
Overall, we adhere a lot of importance to the legislative framework, both globally and locally. The European Green Deal or EU mandatory Due Diligence legislation are indispensable to a more sustainable future and display a bold commitment to the transformation of global value chains by promoting new standards for sustainable growth.
