October 1, 2022 – Happy International Coffee Day !
On the first day of October, coffee lovers and professionals honor the hard work of farmers, roasters, baristas and coffee shop owners worldwide.
At EFICO, we would like to take this great opportunity to present you our annual progress report – fresh off the digital press.
Since 2003, the EFICO Group has adhered to the 10 United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) Principles – covering Human Rights, Labour, the Environment and Anti-Corruption. Our latest annual report is based on the ‘Early Adopter’ Enhanced Communication On Progress (COP) required for Members of the UNGC.
As Sanda Ojiambo -CEO and Executive Director, UN Global Compact- states, the Enhanced Communication on Progress has unlimited potential to increase corporate ambition on sustainability and truly unites business for a better world.
At EFICO, we encourage this consistent and harmonized way of continuous improvement reporting and are convinced the UNGC’s new platform acts as a strong tool to support sustainability performance advancement year over year.
2021 - AT A GLANCE
CONTINUED & NEW COMMITMENTEFICO's 2021 highlights demonstrate a continued commitment and progress towards the 10 United Nations Global Compact Principles and the 5 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) we set our targets and ambitions for in 2016. In 2021, we decided to add a 6th commitment for Gender Equality; both EFICO and EFICO FOUNDATION contributed to the development of the Gender Equity Index Tool, and will further support the aim of Equal Origins to let this become an industry tool: a common language, serving as a positive trigger for gender equality

WHAT'S NEXT?
We embrace our responsibility and take care of our planet; we are on a journey to become a CO2 neutral company by 2023.
Our focus continues to be on creating stable and economically viable supply chains where procurement loyalty, prosperity and gender equality is integrated in our sourcing policy. We also keep on supporting development and innovation in coffee quality.
We do this with special attention for the next generation and their personal and professional development. For the Next Gen it's key to become agents of economic and social development. Hereby leadership and entrepreneurial training -with respect for spirituality and cultural identity- are essential.
