Doña Maria Rodriguez is the heart of the idyllic farm Betania and has an impactable role in creating the Association Cafe Origen Palestina established some 10 years ago. As a third-generation coffee producer, she inherited the farm from her parents. Maria’s story is one of perseverance, balancing her roles as a single mother and diligent caretaker of Betania. Her son helps her on the farm, where coffee plants thrive under a canopy of guamo, cachimbo, orange trees, and avocados, creating a biodiverse ecosystem that benefits both the coffee and the land. In addition, the farm has 1-hectare forest reserve, enriching the biodiversity of the area.
