PROMOTION OF AND EDUCATION FOR HEALTHY SCHOOL CHILDREN ∙ FOLLOW-UP

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN HONDURAS

PURPOSE

This project is the follow-up project of "Promotion and education for healthy school children".
It is part of the project promotion and education for a healthy alimentation during the 2023 school year for students of the Basic Education Centre "18 de Noviembre" located in El Pinal, San juan de Opoa, Department of Copan.

Overall : Strengthen the school lunch program to contribute to the basic nutritional needs of a healthy diet developing a sustainable school garden to ensure these basic nutritional requirements.

Specific:

  • Add new components to the menu of the school lunch so that it is adequate and healthy, contemplating the specifications and nutritional safety of food;
  • Improve the conditions of the kitchen area and tools of the school lunch;
  • Implement a sustainable school garden through infrastructure and efficient equipment in order to reduce water consumption and provide vegetables for school meals throughout the year;
  • Provide education on hygienic habits, application of de-parasitizing and vitamin supplements.

This project is possible thanks to the support of Fundación Amigos del Café, Hesselink Koffie and EFICO Central America/the EFICO Foundation and runs from February 2023 to November 2023.
