PURPOSE

  • Offer certified coffees to select roaster clientele interested on traceability and on social and environmental practices in the coffee chain
  • Improve living conditions and income of smallholder coffee growers and their workers
  • Improve farm management
  • Generate more professional knowledge on responsible, sustainable coffee-growing practice
  • Address local community and environmental needs. Higher income resulting from market opportunities.
  • Develop sustainable infrastructure in the region and empower local community
  • Train smallholder coffee growers to manage their plantation in consistent compliance with future market demands

This project was possible thanks to the support of Inaginsa, CSN, UTZ, Mayacert and EFICO Central America/the EFICO Foundation and ran in 2007-2008.
The follow-up of this project ran from October 2008 to December 2009.
